Dog Training Solutions

Classes

Is your dog jumping on people, pulling on the leash, or not coming when you call?

Enroll in a class at Samantha's - your dog will learn to be a well-behaved companion. This is obedience training that you can use everday. Your dog will learn how to walk nicely on a leash, sit politely for petting, and come when you say, "Come".

Classes are small - you won't get lost in the crowd. Positive methods make learning  fun. Dog massage begins each session to ensure optimum learning. Instruction is tailored to your dog's needs. Also, Barbara Weiss is veterinarian recommended.

Pre-registration is required. Dogs must be four months of age or older, and current on vaccinations. If you're not sure which class is right for your dog, contact Barbara Weiss here.

S.T.A.R. Puppy

Earn an Olympic-style medal for your puppy by passing the 20-step test (treats are allowed!), and build a strong, positive bond with your best friend. For pups up to 12 months of age. Recess time ends each session.

Advanced

This class could save your dog’s life! It teaches the Emergency Come command from the Really Reliable Recall Course. Barbara uses a positive approach to advanced, off-leash obedience. She uses techniques from "Control Unleashed" - your dog learns to focus on you and relax in the presence of distractions! And you'll practice with lots of challenging distractions - for example, one dog is told to stay while the rest of the dogs in the class play - off leash!

Location: Samantha's Katz n' Dogz
Class Duration:  6 Sessions
Time: 4:30pm, Sundays
Fee:  $180.00

This class features lots of distractions and challenges: walking past another dog, staying while toys are tossed nearby, sitting politely for petting, etc. Commands covered include: heel, sit/stay, down/stay, settle, walk nicely on the leash, and stand.

Therapy Dog Handling

Your dog can be a “natural” for therapy work, but unless you know how to handle him effectively, your chances of passing the evaluation are slim. This series of classes offers practical techniques to ensure safe visits with your dog.

You’ll learn about: confident leash handling, safety around medical equipment, role play, items to pack in a visit bag, recognizing stress signals, field trip to practice skill sin public, practice exercises, and various types of facilities for therapy teams.

Barbara’s experience as a therapy dog handler and evaluator is an advantage in this class. Benefit from her years of visiting with her two Malinois in many settings: school (literacy as well as working with therapists for students with special needs), hospital, nursing home, and special events.
